The Security Service of Ukraine has arrested an FSB agent who was providing intelligence on missile and drone strikes targeting the Zhytomyr and Khmelnytskyi regions.
The agent's main task was to collect and send the enemy current images of energy facilities in both regions, allowing the Russian forces to assess their security and location.
According to the case materials, the detained individual was a citizen of a Middle Eastern country living in Zvyagel, Zhytomyr region.
He came under the radar of Russian intelligence while seeking easy money through Telegram channels.
It was documented that after being recruited, he drove around the area in his own car, stopping near substations and energy facilities close to the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant.
While near potential targets, the agent photographed their perimeters and security posts.
Additionally, during reconnaissance, he recorded the locations of defense checkpoints at the entrances to populated areas.
SBU officers caught the agent at the initial stage of his operations for the occupiers, apprehending him “in the act” as he photographed one of the Ukrainian substations.
During the searches, a smartphone containing evidence of his collaboration with the enemy was seized.
Based on the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service notified him of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  •  Part 1 of Article 14, Part 2 of Article 113 (preparation for committing sabotage during martial law);
  •  Part 2 of Article 114-2 (unauthorized dissemination of information about the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations established in accordance with the laws of Ukraine during martial law).

The perpetrator is in custody and faces life imprisonment with property confiscation.
The operation was conducted by SBU officers in the Khmelnytskyi and Zhytomyr regions under the procedural guidance of the Khmelnytskyi regional prosecutor's office.
