A significant meeting of G7+ leaders took place to discuss energy support for Ukraine, where the critical situation in the energy sector due to Russian attacks was highlighted. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
Deputy Minister of Energy Roman Andarak informed partners about the difficult conditions faced by the Ukrainian energy sector as a result of targeted Russian strikes on critical infrastructure.
Andarak pointed out that with the onset of the heating season, enemy attacks on energy facilities have intensified, causing substantial damage to the gas industry and electricity transmission systems. Furthermore, Russia has recently increased its attacks on railway infrastructure, which is crucial for logistics and the functioning of the economy.
The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to partners for their support provided to Ukraine and outlined the urgent needs of the energy sector, including the need for additional gas imports, systems for active and passive protection of energy facilities, transformers, mobile substations, mobile generators, and battery storage systems.
During the meeting, participants were also updated on partners' support regarding Ukraine's natural gas procurement.
