Three men from different regions of Ukraine attempted to illegally cross the border through Odesa. However, their journey ended abruptly when they were discovered by a service dog named Vichchi. This was reported on Sunday, November 9, by the Southern Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Military personnel from the "Kodima" border service unit of the Podilsk squad used surveillance technology to detect suspicious movement towards the border.
It turned out that residents of Kyiv, Vinnytsia, and Volyn regions were trying to illegally cross the Transnistrian segment of the Ukrainian-Moldovan border. They were assisted by an administrator of a Telegram channel, who remotely managed their efforts. Without any guarantees of success, the men had previously transferred $42,000 to his crypto wallet.
During the apprehension, the offenders attempted to flee upon hearing the border guards' instructions to stop. However, service dog Vichchi successfully performed her duty and helped stop the culprits.
Protocols for administrative violations under Article 204-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses were drawn up against the offenders. The cases have been forwarded to court.
