Authorities in Kyiv have charged a city official with negligence that resulted in significant financial losses for the capital's budget. This followed a collaborative investigation by the police and the Security Service of Ukraine under the oversight of the Podil District Prosecutor's Office.
It was found that during widespread power outages in 2023, the official responsible for procuring diesel generators for Resilience Points failed to fulfill his duties properly. He did not monitor market prices for the equipment, resulting in inflated purchasing costs.
Judicial examinations revealed that the city budget suffered losses amounting to nearly 5 million hryvnias.
Investigators have charged the official under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for negligence, which could lead to imprisonment for up to five years.
