In the Kyiv region, agents of the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police apprehended a citizen from an Eastern European country who turned out to be an FSB agent involved in arson on the enemy's orders.
It is reported that he caught the attention of Russian intelligence while looking for «quick earnings» after leaving the military in his homeland.
The FSB dispatched him to Ukraine, where he rented an apartment in Bila Tserkva.
Following instructions from Russian agents, his task was to monitor and set fire to vehicles belonging to Ukrainian defenders.
The perpetrator walked around the city photographing military vehicles to identify potential targets.
In this manner, he monitored the car of a Ukrainian Armed Forces officer and then, during the night, poured a flammable mixture on its hood and set it on fire.
After this, he was tasked with recruiting new agents.
The SBU detained the agent as he was heading to Odesa to carry out another hostile assignment.
During searches, a smartphone containing evidence of his collaboration with the enemy was seized from him.

  •  Part 1 of Article 114-1 (obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period);
  •  Part 2 of Article 194 (intentional destruction or damage to property by means of arson).

The perpetrator is currently in custody and faces up to 10 years in prison. The operation was conducted by the SBU in cooperation with the National Police under the procedural guidance of the Bila Tserkva District Prosecutor's Office.
