The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another member of the FSB intelligence network in the Kyiv region, which was uncovered in the spring. This individual was involved in coordinating drone and missile attacks on the capital.
In May, the first member of this hostile group was arrested for tracking Ukrainian military positions for Russian bombings. According to the SBU, he received a 15-year prison sentence with asset confiscation.
The second agent, a 49-year-old employee from a local maintenance station, has now been detained. He came to the attention of the occupiers while looking for "easy money" in Telegram channels.
Under instructions from the Russian special services, the suspect collected information about the technical condition of energy facilities in the Kyiv region and sent this data along with coordinates to his handlers.
Among the primary targets he was investigating were electrical substations that continue to provide power to a large part of Kyiv.
The agent also monitored the backup locations of Ukrainian defenders in the city and its outskirts.
SBU employees documented the suspect's crimes and apprehended him. His phone, containing evidence of collaboration with Russia, was confiscated.
Investigators from the Security Service have charged the agent under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed in a state of war).
The suspect is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with asset confiscation.
The operations were conducted by SBU employees in Kyiv and the surrounding region under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
