The organizer of the criminal scheme promised to transport «clients» to Romania while bypassing checkpoints. Investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the scheme.
Kyiv police, in collaboration with the SBU and the prosecutor's office, uncovered the actions of a 35-year-old local man who organized the illegal departure of conscripted men to neighboring countries.
The perpetrator sourced «clients» from his acquaintances and promised to facilitate their illegal border crossing for $20,000. The «client» was required to reach the Lviv region, where another accomplice would meet him and drive him to the Romanian border, avoiding checkpoints.
During a search of the organizer's residence, police found and seized part of the funds — $15,000 received from the «client» for the «service». The offender was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The man has been charged under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — organizing the illegal transport of individuals across the state border by a group for mercenary motives. The penalty for this article includes up to nine years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Currently, further measures are being taken to identify all individuals involved in the criminal scheme to hold them accountable.
