Street Conflict: Young Man with a Knife

In Kyiv, a 22-year-old man instigated a conflict and inflicted a knife injury. He faces up to seven years in prison.

A 22-year-old resident of Kyiv, while under the influence of alcohol, initiated a confrontation with a stranger and inflicted a knife injury. After the incident, the perpetrator attempted to flee but fell and broke his leg. He faces up to seven years of imprisonment for his actions. 
Recently, in the Dnipro district, the young man approached a group of people and asked one of them for a cigarette. After being refused, he began to behave aggressively and started swearing. 
During the conflict, he pulled out a knife, started waving it, and ultimately cut a 42-year-old man's cheek. Following this, he attempted to escape but fell and injured his leg. 
The police arrived at the scene and documented the circumstances of the crime. Both the victim and the assailant were hospitalized. 
Investigators, under the supervision of the prosecutor's office, charged the young man with hooliganism under Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article stipulates a penalty of up to seven years of imprisonment.
