Detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) in collaboration with the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) have uncovered a prosecutor from the Office of the Prosecutor General and a group of lawyers attempting to incite the giving of an unlawful benefit totaling $3.5 million. These funds were allegedly intended for SAP prosecutors and judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court to close a criminal case currently under investigation by NABU detectives.
According to the investigation, between February 10 and September 18, 2025, the lawyers colluded with the prosecutor to offer a suspect in one of NABU's cases a resolution to close the case through bribery of officials.
The offenders committed to acting as intermediaries in the receipt and transfer of funds. The amount of the unlawful benefit being solicited from the suspect grew from an initial $2 million to $3.5 million during their criminal activities.
A detailed plan was devised to convey the unlawful benefit in installments. At the time of the detection by NABU detectives, the prosecutor and lawyers had already received $200,000 from the suspect.
Currently, urgent investigative actions are underway to identify all possible participants in the criminal scheme and document their illegal activities.
