In Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, a 52-year-old man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for committing sexual acts against a 6-year-old girl.
Through the efforts of juvenile prosecutors from the Holosiivskyi District Prosecutor's Office, the accused received a severe sentence for crimes involving minors (part 4 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The prosecutor from the Holosiivskyi District represented the state’s case in court.
The incident occurred when the girl's mother stayed overnight with her children at a friend's dormitory. That evening, the man slept on the couch while the woman and her children were on the bed. In the morning, the girl woke up next to the accused. It was revealed that during the night he touched her genitals and performed other sexual acts. Both the mother and the accused had consumed alcohol, leaving the woman confused about how the child ended up in the same room.
Not fully understanding what had happened, the girl complained of pain to her grandmother, who then contacted law enforcement.
The accused denied his guilt in court.
The judges of the Holosiivskyi District Court changed the accused's preventive measure, taking him into custody right in the courtroom.
After the verdict becomes legally binding, information about the man will be entered into the Unified Register of Persons Convicted for Crimes Against the Sexual Freedom of Minors.
The investigation was conducted by detectives from the Holosiivskyi District of the National Police of Ukraine.
