The Security Service of Ukraine has apprehended four individuals who were carrying out arson attacks on railway infrastructure at the behest of enemy forces.
According to the case materials, the suspects came under the FSB's radar while seeking «easy money» on Telegram. However, instead of cash rewards, each agent received suspicion from Ukrainian authorities and the real prospect of imprisonment.
In Cherkasy region, three teenagers aged 13, 14, and 16 from the city of Smila were caught «red-handed» while setting fire to relay boxes on local railway tracks as instructed by the FSB.
Investigations revealed that these tasks were «control» assignments preceding their next task – to create an improvised explosive device (IED) for a terror attack.
During the investigation, it was determined that the enemy was also «testing» the youths by instructing them to spray provocative graffiti on the walls of administrative buildings in the central region.
In Kyiv, a 36-year-old citizen from a neighboring European country was apprehended for executing orders from Russian intelligence agents.
Evidence was documented showing how, following the occupiers' instructions, the foreign national set fire to two entry signal boxes, which ensure the uninterrupted movement of trains in the capital's region.
Based on the collected evidence, investigators from the Security Service charged three suspects under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (diversion carried out by a group of individuals in conspiracy during martial law).
The suspects are currently in custody. Authorities are considering pressing charges against the 13-year-old suspect from the Cherkasy region.
Comprehensive measures were carried out by the Security Service in Kyiv and the Kyiv and Cherkasy regions under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City and Cherkasy Regional Prosecutors.
