Investigators in the capital have finished the pre-trial investigation and submitted the indictment to the court. The accused face up to fifteen years in prison or life imprisonment.
Recall that in late January, police detectives, together with Security Service of Ukraine officials, arrested a 36-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman who were plotting to murder the First Deputy Minister of Health.
During the investigation, it was revealed that another suspect, a 28-year-old resident of the Kyiv region, was also involved in the crime.
The investigation found that in October 2024, a friend of the suspects died due to severe injuries from a traffic accident in a city hospital. The First Deputy Minister, who is an anesthesiologist, was on duty at the facility that day.
Believing him responsible for the woman's death, the criminals devised a detailed assassination plan, which was gradually implemented under police supervision.
For several months, they monitored the minister's daily routine and movements, rented an apartment in the same residential complex as the potential victim, obtained a gym membership where he worked out, and regularly changed vehicles to avoid detection. Additionally, the suspects frequently visited a shooting range to practice their weapon handling skills.
Law enforcement officers apprehended the accomplices during a money exchange for a pistol intended to be used in the murder. Searches revealed weapons, ammunition, and psychotropic substances, leading to the filing of charges.
The pre-trial investigation is now complete, and the materials of the criminal proceedings have been sent to court. The suspects will be tried under multiple articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, facing life imprisonment.
