The Security Service of Ukraine, with the assistance of the Minister of Defense and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has uncovered a new infiltration of FSB agents into the defense forces.
As a result of a special operation in Lviv, a citizen of Russia was detained, who, having volunteered in one of the military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, began to work for the Russian special services.
Specifically, this individual was coordinating Russian missile strikes in the Lviv region.
To fulfill the enemy's tasks, he was leaking to the FSB the coordinates of his unit's temporary base and adjacent military units.
Moreover, he sent the enemy geolocations of armored columns, transit warehouses, and vehicle depots near the Ukrainian border.
It has been established that the Russian maintained contact with his handler through anonymous chats. To conceal his agency connections, the 'mole' used three smartphones from various operators, including those from EU countries.
However, this did not help him. SBU officers documented the agent's activities and detained him as he was heading to an ATM to check for money incoming from Russia.
It has been revealed that the FSB involved his brother from Russia to recruit him.
SBU investigators have informed the agent of his suspicion.
The perpetrator is currently in custody.
The operation was conducted under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
