The police in Kyiv have apprehended six members of an interregional drug syndicate and seized illegal substances worth 4 million hryvnias. The criminal operations of the syndicate were documented by the Shevchenkivskyi Police Department in collaboration with criminal analysis experts and under the supervision of the Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor's Office.
According to the head of the Shevchenkivskyi Police Department, Ihor Padiuk, the ringleader was identified as a 33-year-old resident of Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk region, who recruited five accomplices from Kamianske and the capital:
«In Dnipropetrovsk, three drug dealers rented a private house where they packaged psychotropics and distributed them across Ukraine. Meanwhile, three of their accomplices organized a stash of illegal substances in an apartment in Kyiv, where they also packaged drugs for wholesale distribution to various regions of the country. They found clients through a closed Telegram channel».
As a result of simultaneous raids, supported by special police forces and dog handlers in Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk, law enforcement officials discovered and confiscated approximately 8 kg of alpha-PVP, 9 kg of cannabis, over 1 kg of amphetamine, and more than 2500 MDMA pills. The estimated value of the seized items on the black market amounts to 4 million hryvnias.
The suspects were arrested in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators have notified the six members of the group of suspicions under part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, sending, or sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in especially large quantities. They face up to twelve years in prison with asset confiscation.
