In Kyiv, law enforcement apprehended a woman trying to sell three vehicles imported for military support at a price of $14,000. She was caught «in the act».
The illegal sale was halted by Kyiv police investigators along with operatives from the National Police's Internal Security Department. The suspect, a 47-year-old native of Dnipropetrovsk region currently residing in the capital, was involved in the scheme.
As a representative of a charitable foundation, she established a scheme to sell vehicles brought into the country as humanitarian aid for the armed forces. She sought potential customers through online advertisements and a specially created group on social media, where she promoted the vehicles.
Terms and pricing for the cars were discussed during face-to-face meetings and correspondence with «clients». After receiving the agreed amount, she would complete the necessary paperwork and transfer the vehicle to the new owner.
Following this «business plan», she attempted to sell three vehicles from the humanitarian fleet for $14,000. However, the scheme was thwarted. Law enforcement arrested her immediately after the transaction and receipt of funds.
During sanctioned searches at her residence, four vehicles with foreign registration, cash, mobile phones with correspondence with «clients», and other evidence of illegal activity were discovered and seized.
Investigators from the Pechersk Police Department have already informed the «entrepreneur» of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 15 and Part 3 of Article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal use of humanitarian assistance for profit). She faces up to seven years in prison for her charitable business.
The Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv is overseeing the proceedings.
