A perpetrator promised conscripts jobs at companies entitled to grant mobilization deferments. It has been established that he acted as an intermediary in a corruption scheme, and investigations are underway to identify other participants. This illegal operation could lead to a ten-year prison sentence.
The corruption scheme involving illegal deferments from mobilization was documented by investigators from the Kyiv police department in collaboration with the UCR staff in Kyiv under the guidance of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Defense in the Central Region.
According to the investigation, an official from the Ministry of Defense offered men of conscription age a job at a company authorized to grant deferrals for a monetary reward of $10,000.
Investigators arrested the suspect while he was receiving the aforementioned sum from a «client».
The perpetrator has been charged with aiding in the receipt of unlawful benefits, which carries criminal liability. The court has chosen to detain him in custody. He faces up to ten years in prison.
