Counterintelligence officers from the SBU, along with the National Police, have apprehended five individuals collaborating with the aggressor state and plotting acts of sabotage across various regions of Ukraine.
According to investigation materials, the detainees set fire to energy facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia and vehicles of the Armed Forces, and attempted to plant explosives under a military SUV.
It has been established that the suspects were recruited by the enemy while searching for «easy money» on Telegram channels.
In Lviv, two agents were caught “red-handed” while attempting to plant a homemade explosive device (HED) under the car of a Ukrainian soldier, which the Russians planned to detonate remotely.
The investigation revealed that the preparation for the terrorist act was carried out by a 17-year-old boy from Dnipropetrovsk region and his 16-year-old girlfriend from Cherkasy region.
Following the instructions of the occupiers, the minors arrived in Lviv, where they retrieved a backpack containing the HED, equipped with 4.5 kg of explosives and nuts.
Afterward, the suspects tracked the victim's vehicle, placed the explosives underneath it, and set up a mobile camera across from the car for remote access by Russian intelligence services.
In Kyiv, a 23-year-old local resident was detained for setting fire to a relay cabinet of a signaling system on the railway.
Additionally, a 29-year-old Kyiv resident was arrested for igniting a service vehicle of one of the Armed Forces brigades and a military truck.
In Volyn, a 14-year-old schoolboy from Kovel was detained for igniting a minivan belonging to a Ukrainian defender at the end of August.

Based on the collected evidence, the suspects were charged under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • part 2 of article 15, part 2 of article 258 (completed attempt to commit a terrorist act by a group of individuals in collusion);

The perpetrators face various prison sentences, including life imprisonment with property confiscation. Comprehensive measures were carried out by SBU employees in Kyiv, as well as in Kyiv, Lviv, and Volyn regions together with the National Police under the procedural guidance of the city, regional, and local prosecutor's offices.
