Officials from the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police, and the Office of the Prosecutor General believe that Russian intelligence services may be involved in the organization of the murder of MP Andriy Parubiy. This information was obtained during initial investigative actions with the arrested killer.

“The crime exhibits signs of a contract killing. There is operational information indicating possible involvement of the Russian Federation's intelligence services in organizing the murder. We are cooperating closely with law enforcement colleagues to identify all those involved in this brazen crime, verify information sources, and gather evidence,” stated Vadim Onyshchenko, head of the SBU in the Lviv region.

Recall that on the night of August 31 to September 1, the SBU, National Police, and Prosecutor’s Office detained an individual suspected of murdering the MP. Thanks to coordinated actions by law enforcement, the suspect was apprehended within 24 hours of the attack.

The suspect's actions are classified under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: part 1 of article 115 (intentional murder) and part 1 of article 263 (illegal handling of weapons). The investigation and arrest have been under the personal control of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

Investigative actions are ongoing.

Law enforcement will provide additional information regarding further developments in the investigation and new confirmed facts about the crime.
