Arrest of a Kyiv Resident for Selling Humanitarian Vehicles

A man was arrested in Odesa for illegally selling vehicles designated for humanitarian purposes.

In Odesa, law enforcement officers detained a Kyiv resident who was selling vehicles imported for humanitarian purposes. The individual sold three cars intended for military and charity organizations. He has been charged and faces up to seven years in prison with asset confiscation.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police.

A 43-year-old man organized the import of vehicles into Ukraine under the pretense of using them for military units and charitable organizations. He subsequently sold these humanitarian vehicles on online platforms.

During the investigation, law enforcement caught him in the act in Odesa when he met with a client to sell an Audi and two Mitsubishis for $16,100. Authorities seized the illegally obtained money, sold vehicles, and other evidence related to the case.

"The police detained the offender under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and informed him of the suspicion of selling humanitarian aid items for profit during martial law. This crime is classified under Part 3 of Article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and is punishable by imprisonment for up to seven years with a ban on holding certain positions for up to three years and confiscation of property", the statement said.

The court has chosen a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention with the right to bail set at 605,000 UAH. The full circle of individuals involved in this crime is being established. The investigation continues.
