Agents from the Bureau of Economic Security have uncovered corruption among officials of the Poltava City Council involved in embezzling budget funds during the procurement of drones for the military.
This was reported by the press service of the Bureau.
The investigation revealed that in December 2023, the Director of the Department for Civil Protection and his subordinate purchased drones worth nearly UAH 39 million for military units.
According to the report, the Bureau identified an artificial price inflation of UAH 5 million for the goods.
Two officials, as well as the head of the drone supply company, have been charged with crimes under Part 2 of Article 364 (abuse of power or official position) and Part 1 of Article 366 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Currently, the two suspects are under house arrest.
According to Youcontrol data, until the beginning of 2024, the Department for Civil Protection and Defense of the Poltava City Council was headed by Serhiy Syrytsia.
