Employees from various law enforcement bodies in Ukraine, including the National Police and the Security Service, have uncovered a criminal group involved in the production and sale of fake documents across the country. The members of this group face up to ten years in prison.
This information was provided by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine.
The mastermind behind this illicit operation was a 27-year-old resident of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, who recruited accomplices from various areas.
The array of forged documents included passports, driver's licenses, vehicle registration documents, and various certificates from governmental organizations, as well as official IDs from the National Police and other agencies.
The cost of these forgeries varied based on their complexity. For instance, creating a driver's license cost over 8000 hryvnias, while a foreign passport was about 2000 dollars. For 1500 dollars, clients could procure fake credentials claiming to be employees of the Security Service or National Police, with forged military tickets being particularly in high demand.
According to operational data, the criminals’ monthly earnings were between 2 to 3 million hryvnias.
Orders were received and processed through Telegram, and to avoid detection by law enforcement, the group utilized disposable SIM cards. Shipments were sent via mailboxes that lacked video surveillance, and often at night.
Law enforcement conducted over 30 searches at the suspects' locations, uncovering blank SBU, National Guard, and Armed Forces IDs, state seals from various government institutions, blank passports, driver's licenses, and sketches of seals featuring Russian symbols.
