Due to improper oversight during the capital renovation of the children's sports school «Kozak», the Kyiv budget suffered substantial financial losses.
The incident was uncovered by Kyiv police investigators with the support of the Security Service of Ukraine and under the guidance of the Podil District Prosecutor's Office. The investigation found that at the end of 2024, a contract was signed between the director of the «Kozak» institution and a construction firm for renovation work.
An engineer for technical supervision was hired to ensure the quality of the work.
After the renovation was completed, approximately 7.2 million hryvnias were paid to the contractor from the city budget. However, investigators determined that the actual costs of the restoration and used materials did not match the reported documentation, and the prices were intentionally inflated.
The supervising engineer, responsible for ensuring compliance with all standards, «failed to notice» the discrepancies. As a result, court expert conclusions indicated that the damages to the Kyiv community budget exceeded 740 thousand hryvnias.
Investigators have notified the suspect of the charges under part 2 of article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – official negligence causing severe consequences. The penalty for this article includes imprisonment for up to five years, with a prohibition on holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities for up to three years.
It is worth noting that previously the former director of the «Kozak» sports school was suspected of misappropriating funds during the renovation work.
