The Security Service of Ukraine has successfully prevented new attempts by Russian troops to infiltrate the rear of Ukrainian defense forces in the south. An enemy agent was apprehended in Kherson, who was preparing for the infiltration of Russian sabotage groups into the right bank. This individual was tasked with gathering intelligence on the coastal area and the security of critical defense facilities near the Dnipro. After obtaining this information, the invaders planned to penetrate Ukrainian-controlled territory. Following this, enemy vanguard groups were to secure occupied positions until the main forces arrived from the temporarily occupied part of Kherson region.

According to the investigation materials, the enemy agent turned out to be a 37-year-old resident of Kherson, who drew the attention of Russian operatives by posting anti-Ukrainian comments on Telegram channels. While collecting data, he was surveying the coastal territory and documenting the locations of Ukrainian defense forces. Furthermore, the man inquired additional information from local residents under the guise of casual conversations in shops. Cyber specialists from the Security Service meticulously documented the espionage activities of the Russian agent and arrested him at his place of residence. The investigators have informed the suspect of charges under part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law). Currently, the perpetrator is in custody without the right to bail, facing life imprisonment with asset confiscation. The operation was carried out by SBU employees in the Kherson region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
