The Security Service of Ukraine has arrested a Russian military intelligence agent who assisted the enemy in infiltrating Pokrovsk. Counterintelligence has uncovered another traitor in Donetsk region. This individual was monitoring Ukrainian forces in the hottest areas of the front near Pokrovsk. Reports indicate that the enemy was preparing aggressive actions using heavy aviation and artillery.

The investigation revealed that the Russian military intelligence (GRU) had recruited a local resident. This turned out to be a 34-year-old electrician from Mirnograd, who was anticipating a full occupation of the region. To recruit this supporter of Russian aggression, the GRU involved his classmate, who is currently fighting against the Ukrainian forces in the east. The main task of the agent was to survey Pokrovsk and the surrounding areas, taking photographs of Ukrainian military positions.

The enemy was particularly interested in the coordinates of fortified areas, backup command posts, and ammunition depots. After returning home from reconnaissance missions, the agent compiled a kind of report for the occupiers.

The SBU timely uncovered the perpetrator, documented his contacts with the Russian GRU liaison, and made the arrest. Simultaneously, counterintelligence secured the positions of Ukrainian defenders in Pokrovsk. During the search of the suspect, a phone with an anonymous chat was seized, which he used to coordinate his actions with the occupiers.

SBU investigators informed him of the suspicion under part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed in a state of war).

The offender is currently in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The special operation was carried out by the SBU staff in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office.
