The Security Service of Ukraine has arrested another Russian intelligence agent in Kyiv. This criminal was involved in coordinating missile and drone attacks on the city and monitoring the movement of Ukrainian military forces. According to the investigation, a 24-year-old IT specialist, recruited by the occupiers, was carrying out their orders. He came under FSB scrutiny while searching for 'easy money' on Telegram.
Under the guidance of Russian special services, the agent rented apartments in high-rise buildings, with addresses provided to him in advance. He installed cameras with remote access for enemy operatives to spy on the situation in Kyiv. This way, the aggressor was able to gather information on potential targets for repeated attacks. Additionally, he set up similar 'video traps' near railways, anticipating the movement of military trains.
Counterintelligence of the SBU swiftly uncovered the agent, documented his activities, and arrested him 'in the act' at the rented apartment. At the scene, a video camera was found, along with a phone containing evidence of his contacts with the FSB handler.
The agent has been notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed during martial law).
He is currently in custody, facing life imprisonment with asset confiscation. Comprehensive measures were conducted by SBU officers in Kyiv and the Kyiv region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
