Driver Arrested After Hitting Pedestrian in Vinnytsia

A driver who hit a pedestrian in Vinnytsia has been arrested. Investigation is underway.

The police in Vinnytsia have arrested a driver who struck a female pedestrian.

The incident occurred on the morning of July 12 at A. Pervozvannogo Street. A 32-year-old man driving a Renault car hit a 22-year-old girl crossing the street at an uncontrolled crosswalk.

During the examination, signs of drug intoxication were found in the driver.

The driver has been detained and will remain in custody until charges are filed and a preventive measure is chosen.

The injured girl has been hospitalized.

A criminal case has been opened under part 2 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for violating traffic safety rules while driving under the influence.

The Vinnytsia District Prosecutor's Office is overseeing the pre-trial investigation.

The sanctions for this article include imprisonment for a term of three to eight years and deprivation of the right to drive for five to eight years.

The driver's vehicle has been placed in an impound lot.
