Tragic Incident in Mykhailivka: Armed Conflict with Police

An incident in Mykhailivka escalated when a father threatened his family with a grenade, leading to a tragic outcome.

On July 12 at 10:33 PM, an 18-year-old girl contacted the police, stating that her father was threatening her and the family with a grenade and firearm in the village of Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka.
The Bucha district police and special forces promptly arrived at the scene.
While attempting to halt the offense, the assailant activated a live grenade and threw it towards the police. Following the explosion, officers fired back to neutralize the threat. The 41-year-old suspect died at the scene.
As a result of the grenade explosion, five police officers sustained shrapnel wounds and were taken to the hospital for medical assistance.
A search of the residence revealed and seized four pistols, a pyrotechnic grenade, a hunting rifle, and a knife.
Investigators initiated a criminal case for illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosives, and for endangering the lives of law enforcement officers (Part 1 of Article 263, Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The State Bureau of Investigations continues to work at the crime scene.
