On July 8, around 7 AM, the Kyiv police received a report of a shooting in the Desnyansky district, where a man was killed.

The investigation involved operatives from the main department and territorial unit, detectives, forensic experts, and other specialists.

It was established that the victim, a local resident born in 1977, was in a minibus when an unknown person approached him and fired two shots before fleeing the scene. The man died from his gunshot wounds.

“Following a special operation, we located and seized the potential weapon used in the crime, which the perpetrator had discarded. After the incident, the suspect disguised himself and left for Odesa the same day. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of Kyiv and Odesa police, with the support of the KORD special unit, we apprehended the suspect in a hotel. He turned out to be a 41-year-old foreigner. We are currently considering several versions,” said Andriy Harastyuk, head of the Kyiv Criminal Police.

The Desnyansky Police Department, under the supervision of the Desnyansky District Prosecutor's Office, has notified the suspect of charges under p. 11 part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for intentional murder committed on commission. At the request of law enforcement, the suspect will remain in custody. He faces up to fifteen years in prison or life imprisonment.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement is establishing all circumstances and identifying other individuals involved in the crime.
