In the capital of Ukraine, law enforcement agencies have discovered that an employee from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, along with an accomplice, organized an illegal scheme for selling elite license plates. For combinations like «0006» or «1616», clients were paying not only officially but also under the table, totaling up to several thousand dollars.

The perpetrators managed an Instagram account where they advertised the opportunity to purchase license plates with sought-after combinations such as 1010, 0300, 0444, 1616, 0006, and others.

According to their scheme, clients were required to make an official payment at the service center and also give an additional «reward» through a middleman. Otherwise, the system would show that the number was already taken.

Operatives conducted a controlled purchase via Instagram and Telegram, ordering the plate «1616» for 8 thousand hryvnias. The intermediary received the money and transferred it to the personal card of the Ministry of Internal Affairs employee. They also sold the plate «0006» for 3500 US dollars, separate from official fees.

Law enforcement documented the entire process, including communications, payments, and the transfer of funds. The prosecutor's office has already filed a motion with the court for the arrest of the suspects and their suspension from work.
