In the Dnipropetrovsk region, law enforcement has reported suspicions of fraud against three members of an organized group who allegedly deceived relatives of Ukrainian soldiers missing in action or captured, amounting to nearly 3 million hryvnias.

According to investigators, the perpetrators searched social media for announcements regarding missing or captured servicemen. They then contacted the families via messaging apps, offering 'assistance' in securing the return of their loved ones or providing medical care.

For these services, the fraudsters demanded monetary compensation, which the victims transferred to bank accounts controlled by the criminals.

Currently, authorities have identified 14 victims from various regions of Ukraine. During searches at the suspects' locations, mobile phones, documents, cash, and bank cards were seized.

All three suspects are facing charges under part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for fraud committed on a particularly large scale as part of an organized group. Preventive measures have been chosen for them.

Their involvement in an additional 12 episodes of fraud, with total damages of around 5 million hryvnias, is also under investigation.
