Man Arrested for Carrying Ammunition in Kyiv

A man in Kyiv was arrested for carrying ammunition, facing a potential seven-year prison sentence.

A man carrying a suspicious container now faces up to seven years in prison.

In the Desnyanskyi district on Bratislava Street, patrol officers stopped a man who was intoxicated and carrying a green metal container. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the 39-year-old Kyiv resident was transporting ammunition. This was reported by the Kyiv police.

The police seized 123 rounds of various calibers, 5 grenades, as well as grenade bodies and fuses from the suspect. He claimed that his friend gave him the ammunition as a birthday gift.

Investigators detained the man and charged him under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code — illegal handling of military supplies. The article provides for a penalty of three to seven years in prison.
