The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, announced a peace initiative in connection with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

This initiative will be in effect from 00:00 on May 8 to 00:00 on May 11, as reported by the Russian news agency TASS.

Putin stated that the Ukrainian side should also follow this example.

He added that in case of any violations of the ceasefire by Ukraine, Russian forces would respond appropriately.
