The American defense company Mach Industries has unveiled its latest development – the Dart missile designed for intercepting drones. The manufacturer announced that the project began in 2024.
The Dart (from English – dart) is classified as a "ground-to-air" weapon. This missile was created as a cost-effective alternative to traditional air defense systems to effectively counter strike drones. According to the company, the missile and radar system allows for "mass deployment" in close proximity to potential targets.
"It is flexibly mounted on launch pads, vehicles, or stationary structures and can be scaled from a single unit to hundreds depending on the threat density," – reported Mach Industries.
The Dart missiles operate in conjunction with a specialized ground radar that detects strike drones and launches interceptors. The weapon employs kinetic interception, hitting the target at high speed to destroy it.
The company also stated that improvements to the missile are ongoing ahead of operational testing, with plans to deploy it in combat scenarios by the end of 2026.
