General Christopher Cavoli, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, believes that Ukraine has every chance to succeed in the war.
Source: "European Truth" quoting the general during hearings in the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee.
When asked about the possibility of Ukraine's defeat, Cavoli replied: "No. In war, nothing is inevitable, and Ukrainians are currently in very strong defensive positions, slowly improving their capacity to generate strength and fortify those positions."
He also noted that it is currently "hard to imagine a large Ukrainian offensive" that would completely clear every inch of Ukrainian territory from Russian occupation.
"However, it is just as hard to envision Ukraine collapsing and losing this conflict. I do not believe that Ukrainian defeat is inevitable," – said the American general.
Cavoli further agreed that the Ukrainian army has evolved "from a soldier with a rifle to a truly serious modern military force."
The general's comments came amid reports that the U.S. may for the first time skip the "Ramstein" meeting that provides military support to Ukraine.
At the upcoming Contact Group meeting, which will take place at NATO headquarters in Brussels, the co-chairs will be the UK and Germany.
