The evacuation teams known as «White Angels» have relocated over 28,000 individuals from combat zones. Mandatory evacuations are being conducted in the Donetsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhia regions. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oleksiy Serhiev during a briefing on the status of evacuation measures.
According to Serhiev, specially formed police and rescue teams are involved in the evacuation process, including 24 units from the National Police «White Angels».
Currently, mandatory evacuations are taking place in the Donetsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhia regions. A specific focus is on the forced evacuation of children along with their parents. This process is ongoing in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, and Kharkiv regions. In the Sumy and Kherson regions, all children had already been evacuated earlier.
In the Donetsk region, there are still 424 children needing evacuation, in Kharkiv — 243, in Dnipropetrovsk — 26, and in Zaporizhia — 11.
He reminded that December 1 marked the third anniversary of the creation of «White Angels». The unit began operations in Donetsk and was named at the initiative of the residents of Marinka — it was there that people first felt the support of law enforcement during shelling.
Since its inception, «White Angels» have saved over 28,000 people, including more than 7,300 children. Besides evacuation, police also provide first aid and transport the injured and sick: about a thousand individuals have been taken to hospitals. Similar units have been established and are operational in the Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhia regions.
Serhiev emphasized that the work of evacuation teams occurs under constant threat: the enemy regularly shell special transport with artillery and attacks with drones. In the last month, six such incidents have been recorded — five in Donetsk and one in Zaporizhia.
In particular, on November 19, a vehicle belonging to the «White Angels» unit was damaged in Kostiantynivka due to an FPV drone attack. The next day in Lyman, a drone strike on an armored vehicle resulted in injuries to four individuals: two police officers, a U.S. citizen, and a correspondent from Radio Free Europe.
Simultaneously, 26 rescue and evacuation teams named «Phoenix» from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are operating in the combat zone. They are equipped with armored vehicles and specialized equipment and are responsible for evacuating civilians from dangerous areas.
