On the morning of November 25, during a fresh wave of assaults, Russian drones infiltrated the airspace of Romania and Moldova. This was reported by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and confirmed by the Romanian Ministry of Defense.
In addition to drones, Russia also employed various missile types to strike Ukrainian cities.
"Several Russian UAVs were detected in the Odesa region near the Moldovan border, with a potential border crossing," the Air Forces noted at 07:44.
Six minutes later, the military indicated that at least one drone likely crossed into Romania.
The Romanian Ministry of Defense reported in the morning that military radars detected an aerial target (a Russian UAV) approaching their airspace near Tulcea County, and at 06:28, two German Eurofighter Typhoon jets were scrambled from the Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base to monitor the situation.
The drone entered Romanian airspace from the direction of Vylkove (Ukraine) towards the Kilia Veche area, Tulcea County.
At 06:55, a Ro-Alert was issued in the Tulcea area. At 07:11, a Eurofighter Typhoon reported a radar contact with a target over Ukrainian territory, beyond Romanian airspace.
Subsequently, at 07:37, two F-16 fighters took off to respond to the situation, and at 07:48, a Ro-Alert was also declared for Galați County.
By 07:50, radars detected a second incursion into Romanian airspace in Galați County, and an F-16 had radar contact with it.
It is currently unknown whether the fighters or air defense systems shot down Russian drones over Romanian territory.
Russian drones have repeatedly violated Romanian and Moldovan airspace during assaults on Ukraine. For instance, from November 18 to 19, German and Romanian fighters were scrambled to intercept Russian drones that had entered Romanian territory.
