The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has officially commented for the first time on its operation in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region. The deployment of special forces via helicopter to the outskirts of the city has been deemed successful.

“The efforts of the 'Timur Special Unit' of the GUR continue in one of Pokrovsk's critical logistics areas. Fierce battles with Russian occupiers are ongoing. Following a successful airborne operation, our special forces took designated positions, established a ground corridor, and additional forces have joined,” the GUR stated, releasing footage of the combat operations.

The GUR emphasized that combat operations are still underway. They aim to eliminate any attempts by the enemy to expand its fire influence on logistics in the area of responsibility of the Ukrainian intelligence. Other special units of the GUR are also performing combat tasks in the sector.

For the safety of personnel involved, operational details are not disclosed at this time.

It is worth noting that the operation in Pokrovsk is personally commanded by GUR chief Kyrylo Budanov, who is on-site. The operation's goal is to secure supply routes for Ukrainian forces. Previously, Russian authorities claimed that Pokrovsk and its neighboring town Myrnohrad were under siege, which the Ukrainian side denied, although they acknowledged a 'difficult situation' in that area of the front.

Additonally, Russia claimed that it had 'halted the attempt to land Ukrainian GUR special operations forces' near Pokrovsk, stating that all 11 soldiers who landed from the helicopter were allegedly destroyed. Meanwhile, the 7th rapid response corps of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported ongoing active clearing operations in the northern part of the city against the occupiers.
