A lieutenant colonel of the Russian OMON, part of the ‘Obereg’ unit, involved in crimes against humanity during the war, has been eliminated. According to the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), a few days ago, a vehicle exploded in the Kemerovo region of Russia, driven by the war criminal Veniamin Mazherin.
Based on gathered evidence and eyewitness testimony, the Office of the Prosecutor General has initiated criminal proceedings against the servicemen of this unit for violating international laws of war.
The lieutenant colonel served in the OMON ‘Obereg’ unit of the Rosgvardia in the Kemerovo region.
“On October 25, 2025, in the Kemerovo region of the aggressor state, a car exploded, driven by the war criminal Mazherin Veniamin Vladimirovich. Colonel Mazherin, born in 1980, served in the OMON ‘Obereg’ of the Rosgvardia,” states the report from HUR on their Telegram channel.
The intelligence emphasizes that ‘Obereg’ is just one of many Rosgvardia units implicated in war crimes and genocide against the Ukrainian people in the Kyiv region, committed by the occupying army during the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine in February-March 2022.
Ukrainian military intelligence identified war criminals from ‘Obereg’ by name back in April 2022 and planned measures aimed at justly punishing the individuals on the list.
