Mass Attacks on Ukraine's Energy Infrastructure: Impact and Response

An overview of the recent attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure from October 21 to 22 and their consequences.

On the night of October 21 to 22, Russian forces launched massive attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. This has been confirmed by DTEK, local energy companies, and regional administrations.
Among the primary targets were energy facilities in Kiev.
The infrastructure in Poltava region was also affected. Due to direct hits and falling debris, oil and gas sector facilities were damaged in the Myrhorod district, but no injuries were reported.
In the Odesa region, Russian forces attacked Izmail, damaging energy and port infrastructure.
"The city's energy supply is gradually being restored; critical infrastructure is operating on generators. Resilience points have been established in the city," noted Odesa OVA head Oleg Kiper at 8:12 AM on October 22.
According to DTEK, Russian forces targeted one of the company's facilities in Odesa.
There were also reports of strikes on energy infrastructure in Cherkasy region. The regional administration indicated that there are "consequences for critical infrastructure" without providing specific details.
In Sumy region, at least one strike on a civilian infrastructure facility was reported.
In Chernihiv region, the aggressor struck energy facilities in three communities – in the Korjukivka and Novgorod-Siversky districts.
"Our energy workers worked throughout the day to restore power to homes," the OVA stated.
In Kirovohrad region, reports emerged of missile and drone attacks that left 27 settlements without electricity.
In Kamyanske in Dnipropetrovsk region, the enemy hit an infrastructure facility. Similar strikes were reported in two communities in the region.
In the city of Lozova in Kharkiv region, railway infrastructure was damaged.
