There was an attack on the train station in Shostka, reported by the head of the Sumy Regional State Administration, Oleg Grygorov, via Telegram.
"The enemy struck at civilian infrastructure – a passenger train route from Shostka to Kyiv. Passengers were injured," the statement said.
Rescue workers, medics, and all emergency services are currently on site.
An operational headquarters has been established. People are receiving necessary assistance and a rescue operation is ongoing.
The scale of the destruction and the number of injured are being clarified, Grygorov added.
President Volodymyr Zelensky showcased the aftermath of the Russian invaders' strike on the train station in Shostka, Sumy region. He published a video from the scene of the tragedy on Telegram.
"A brutal Russian drone strike on the train station in Shostka, Sumy region," he stated in his post.
All necessary services are already on site and have begun providing aid to people. Information regarding the victims is being gathered.
According to the President, dozens of people are already known to be injured. Initially, there were employees of Ukrzaliznytsia and passengers present at the time of the strike.
"The Russians could not have been unaware that they were targeting civilians. This is terrorism that the world cannot ignore," Zelensky declared.
"Every day, Russia takes lives. Only strength can compel them to stop. We have heard decisive statements from Europe and America; it is time to turn them into reality. Together, with everyone who does not consider murder and terror acceptable. Words are not enough now. Strong actions are needed," emphasized the President.
