Ukrainian Air Force Achieves New Milestones

A summary of the recent achievements of the Ukrainian Air Force in countering air attacks.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have neutralized 320 aerial targets out of 416 launched by Russia since the evening of October 2nd. Specifically, 303 drones of various types, 12 Iskander-K cruise missiles, and 5 X-59/69 guided aviation missiles were destroyed. This was reported by the Command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on their Facebook page.

On the night of October 3rd (starting from 8:00 PM on October 2nd), the enemy carried out a combined strike on Ukraine using strike UAVs and missiles, totaling 416 airborne attack means.

In particular, Russia launched:

  • 381 strike UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera type (other drones) from the directions of Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk;
  • 7 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
  • 21 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
  • 7 X-59/69 guided aviation missiles.

“The primary targets of the strike were critical infrastructure facilities (energy sector) in the Kharkiv and Poltava regions,” the Air Force noted.

Additionally, the night attack affected the Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Kyiv regions.

The air attack was countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

As of 10:00 AM, preliminary data indicates that air defense has shot down or suppressed 320 aerial targets:

  • 303 enemy UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera type (other drones);
  • 12 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
  • 5 X-59/69 guided aviation missiles.

Impacts from 18 missiles and 78 strike UAVs were recorded across 15 locations, along with debris falling at six locations.
