On the night of August 28, 16 individuals, including four children, lost their lives due to a massive strike by Russian forces on Kyiv.
This information was confirmed by President Volodymyr Zelensky, Chief of the Kyiv Military Administration Timur Tkachенко, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, and Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko via Telegram.
According to Tkachенко: "The number of victims has increased to 12, including three children aged 2, 14, and 17 years."
By 11 a.m., Klymenko reported that the death toll in the capital had risen to 13.
At 12:19 p.m., Tkachенко clarified that 15 people had died as a result of the attack, four of whom were children. By 2:05 p.m., it was confirmed that 16 had perished.
Among the victims were children aged 2, 14, and 17 years. The minister stated that one deceased child was found at the strike site, while two others died in the hospital from severe injuries.
A total of 38 people were injured in the attack.
"Another 10 individuals are considered missing. Rescue operations are ongoing at the impact sites," the Interior Minister reported.
The Kyiv Mayor noted that among the injured were children aged 7, 10, and 11 years.
"Today's Russian missiles are a clear response to those calling for peace. Russia chooses war over negotiation. This indicates that it is unafraid of repercussions," emphasized Zelensky.
The president also mentioned that Ukraine expects a reaction from China regarding the situation, as the PRC has repeatedly called for a ceasefire.
"We are awaiting Hungary's response. The death of children should evoke stronger emotions than anything else. We expect reactions from everyone who called for peace but remains silent now," the president stated.
He urged the world to impose new stringent sanctions on Russia for its actions.
"All deadlines have been missed, and numerous diplomatic opportunities have been lost. Russia must be held accountable for every attack and for every day of this war," concluded Zelensky.
