As a result of repatriation efforts, 1000 bodies have been returned to Ukraine.

This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War via their Telegram channel.

Today, repatriation actions were conducted in accordance with prior agreements. According to the Russian side, 1000 bodies have been returned to Ukraine, among which, unfortunately, are 5 Ukrainian servicemen who died in captivity. These servicemen were included in the lists of severely wounded and ill prisoners eligible for exchange under the agreements made in Istanbul during the second round of negotiations. The Russian side continues to delay and does not fulfill its obligations. Ukraine insists on the immediate release of all seriously ill and severely wounded captives and is fighting for the return of all Ukrainian citizens. Among those returned today are also defenders from Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, and Kursk directions. In the coming days, law enforcement officials, together with experts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will conduct all necessary examinations and identification of the repatriated bodies.

The repatriation efforts were made possible by the collaborative work of the Coordination Headquarters, the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat for Missing Persons in Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and other security and defense structures. We express our gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for their assistance. Special thanks go to the personnel of the Central Office of the Armed Forces General Staff and the Joint Center for Support of Armed Forces, who facilitate the transportation of the repatriated to designated state specialized institutions and organize the transfer of the deceased to law enforcement representatives.
