In Donetsk, a team of DTEK energy workers was once again targeted while carrying out their tasks. Since February 2022, the company's specialists have encountered attacks over 200 times.
This was reported by DTEK.
“The DTEK Donetsk power grid team was struck by a drone while working. Fortunately, the energy workers were unharmed, though the team vehicle sustained damage,” the statement said.
It is noted that attacks in Donetsk continue to complicate the work of emergency recovery teams.
This time, the energy specialists were performing a switch on one of the energy facilities to connect a power line that had been repaired after an attack. Suddenly, they heard the sound of a drone and an explosion occurred near the vehicle, but the workers were not injured: the driver managed to exit the vehicle before the explosion and, along with a colleague, hid in the nearest building. Although the wheels were damaged, the vehicle remained operational, allowing the energy workers to travel to the nearest settlement where colleagues assisted with repairs.
In the three years since the full-scale invasion, DTEK Donetsk power grid teams have faced attacks during repairs over 200 times. Nineteen energy company specialists have been injured, DTEK confirmed.
Nevertheless, the energy specialists continue to restore networks as soon as it becomes possible, ensuring that light returns to the region's residents, the company assured.
It has been reported that Donetsk remains under constant fire from Russian forces, with the Russian army killing and injuring civilians almost daily, destroying homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure. Donetsk region has the longest front line - about 300 km.
In July 2025, electricity supply was restored in 146 settlements in the Donetsk region that had been cut off due to enemy shelling.
