In Kherson, evacuation efforts are underway in the Korabel district due to the worsening humanitarian situation following recent airstrikes.

This was announced by Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Administration.

«I just returned from Korabel and the evacuation point. More and more people are deciding to leave, as the humanitarian conditions have deteriorated after the strikes on the bridge. Logistics for delivering food and medicine have become challenging», Prokudin stated.

According to him, within the last day, 219 people have been evacuated from Korabel. Since the initial attacks, the evacuation has affected over 400 individuals.

At the time of the strike, approximately 1800 residents remained in the area. Currently, gas supply is absent, but there is electricity and water. Evacuees receive full support - they are assisted in reaching relatives or temporarily accommodated in shelters.

Prokudin specifically emphasized the importance of evacuating children: «At the time of the first strike, there were 44 children living in Korabel. Now only ten remain. One is being prepared for evacuation, two more will be taken out on August 5, and work is ongoing with two families, while two cases are particularly challenging as the parents are categorically refusing evacuation».

Additionally, around 40 persons with limited mobility remain in the area. Their evacuation is a priority, underlined the head of the administration.

«We will assist not only with leaving but also with settling into new locations», Prokudin assured and urged Korabel residents not to delay their decisions.

As reported, on the evening of Saturday, August 2, the Russian army dropped two guided bombs on Kherson, damaging the road bridge leading to Korabel and affecting three private houses and a multi-storey building.

The authorities in Kherson have called on residents of the Korabel district to evacuate to safer regions due to the intensifying attacks from Russia.

As of the evening of August 4, 400 residents from Korabel have already been evacuated, including 34 children and 41 persons with limited mobility.
