The complete identification of around 6,000 bodies of fallen Ukrainian defenders, handed over by Russia, may take at least 13-14 months.

This information was shared by Ukraine's Interior Minister Igor Klymenko during a national television marathon.

How long will it take to identify the bodies of 6000 defenders?

The minister noted that Russia has currently transferred 6060 bodies of the deceased.

“I can only provide an approximate assessment, as the analysis is still ongoing – regarding the condition of the remains and how many are actually contained in the packages transferred by the Russian side. However, according to our experts' most conservative preliminary estimates, identifying these approximately 6,000 bodies will require at least 13-14 months,” said Igor Klymenko.

He also emphasized that this timeline is the minimum needed for full identification of all repatriated bodies.

According to him, all relevant services – forensic examination, expert units, and investigators – are working in three shifts to expedite this complex and crucial task.
