The final phase of the repatriation efforts has been completed, with 1245 bodies returned to Ukraine under the agreements reached in Istanbul. According to Russian sources, these bodies belong to Ukrainian citizens, including military personnel. Thus, Ukraine has received a total of 6057 bodies as part of the Istanbul agreements.
Authorities, in collaboration with experts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will conduct all necessary examinations and identifications of the repatriated bodies.
This repatriation was made possible through the coordinated efforts of various agencies, including the Coordination Headquarters on Prisoner of War Affairs, the Joint Center of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces, and other security structures.
We express our gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for their assistance.
A special thanks to the personnel of the Central Command of the Armed Forces who handle the transportation of the repatriated individuals to designated state facilities and facilitate the transfer of the deceased to law enforcement agencies for further investigation.
