On the night of June 6, Kyiv experienced a massive attack that resulted in damage to the Hryhorii Skovoroda Library located in the Solomianskyi district. This was reported by Ihor Stepurin, the executive director of the Ukrainian Publishers Association.
He stated that the "best district library in Kyiv" suffered severe damage due to the bombardment of the capital.
The explosive wave damaged the building's facade, shattering windows and doors. Fortunately, no staff members were harmed and the books remained intact.
"The cleanup is ongoing. Rescuers, local authorities, public services, volunteers, and many concerned citizens are working together harmoniously. A support headquarters for the affected has been set up in the library," the library's team reported.
Additionally, during the night attack, the facade of the Museum of Ukraine in the Second World War, located near the "Motherland" monument, was also damaged.
