The National Police of Ukraine confirmed the death of officer Darina Shigyda as a result of a nighttime shelling in the city of Pryluky. Her one-year-old son and mother also lost their lives in the attack.

This tragic incident took place at night in Chernihiv region. Officer Darina and her family became victims of an enemy assault, as reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

Darina had been serving in the Kyiv police since 2020. Colleagues remember her as a genuine, kind, and responsible individual with a strong sense of duty. She was fully dedicated to her service.

“Becoming a police officer was her childhood dream. Her father, a firefighter, instilled in her the desire to help others, and her husband, also a patrol officer, always supported her in her career,” the police noted.

This attack claimed the lives of three generations of a single family.

“This is not just a loss — it is the severed lives of three generations… There are no words to soothe this pain. Only silence, tears, and rage over the lost lives,” the National Police stated.
