The organizers invite residents of Kyiv to participate in the event, ensuring that the voices of families and concerned citizens grow louder.
On Sunday, June 8, a solidarity event for Ukrainian soldiers held captive by Russia will take place at St. Sophia Square in Kyiv. The event will start at 5:00 PM and is part of the nationwide initiative «Don't Stay Silent! Captivity Kills», held weekly in various cities across Ukraine.
The organizers emphasize: silence kills. Society cannot forget those who fight daily for their lives in captivity, as well as those whose fate remains unknown.
Participants urge the Ukrainian government and the international community to take more active measures regarding the release of prisoners of war, investigate cases of disappearances, and apply pressure on Russia for violations of international humanitarian law.
According to human rights defenders, the conditions of Ukrainian prisoners are horrific: they are tortured, humiliated, and denied medical assistance. Some do not survive the abuse and die.
The aim of the event is not only to support the families of the captives but also to remind society that the fight for every defender continues.
At the «Kyiv Inform» press center, «Evening Kyiv» spoke with Olga Adrianova, co-founder of the Association of Families of Azovstal Defenders. She shared how a strong community of families of captives has formed around the common grief, supporting each other and ensuring that society does not turn away from this painful issue.
